the effect of music

So i'm not completely sure why i'm blogging this but thats ok. I can do random stuff. Its my blog.
I'm amazed at how much music can effect your life. I love music. I especially love when I hear a song that I havn't heard forever. The best part is when you listen to it that song brings back all the memories you have from that time of your life. Not only does it bring back the memories of whatever was going on at the time but it brings back everything you associated with that song. I know i'm not using the right terms and phrases but oh well. My hubby isn't around to correct me right now. There are certain songs that were a big part of my life and I love when I hear them. Especially if its been years. I've had that kind of experience tonight. I was watching the CMA Festival and trying to get things done. I was in the other room when the Judds performed Love Can Build A Bridge. That was one of my favorite songs when I was 5 or 6. My aunt bought that tape when it was popular and we would play that song over and over whenever I spent time with her. It amazed me that after not listening to it for awhile and never seeing it performed what kind of impact it had. I love that music can do that to you. Some of the other songs that are big in my life or ones I fell in love with as a child are Colin Raye's Little Rock. It may not be the best to associate it with my parents divorce, but thats when it became popular and that when I fell in love with that song. I loved that it was about Arkansas. Thats the home I was leaving. The Beach Boys, KOKOMO. My sister and I would play that over and over and dance with it. Same to Time of my life off of Dirty Dancing. My parents never let me watch the movie but I was allowed to play the very last scene where they danced to that song. I thought I was so cool just to watch that. When I moved to Utah Ace of Base the sign became my song. The busdriver would turn it up for us when that song came on and all of us kids on the bus would sing at the top or our lungs. Then my best friend and I would kareokee to that song and dance to it. Spice Girls Wannabe was awesome. My sister and I totally danced to that song. K well its been kind of fun thinking of songs that have impacted my life in one way or another and brought back fun memories. I can probably go on, but its time to end. Hope everyone had a good August. I can't believe its almost Fall.

nothing too exciting...

Hey! Just wanted to give you a quick update on the Gardiners. Nothing to exciting happening. The most interesting news is that I started back to school today. I'm going to do medical transcribing. I can officially say i'm a student again. So far its interesting, I think i'll come to actually enjoy my classes. Paul starts back tomorrow. We figured by the time he can leave SLCC he will have two associate degrees. Math is killing him and is keeping him there like an extra semester since he can only do one class a semester. But hey, two associates isn't that bad although we are quite anxious for him to be able to move on. Anyways hope everyone had a good summer. I'm bummed its coming to an end. Stay in touch. Oh yeah... Happy Birthday CJ!

Blog Correction

This may bug me til I fix it and I don't think I can on my pictures. I just wanted to say that I think what I put as the melting pots at our trip to Yellowstone may be called paint pots. I'm not for sure but if so, now its corrected. Have a good night everyone! :)

Road Trip

Over this last weekend, Paul and I had the opportunity to go see our friends get married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. I'm glad we were able to make the sealing. We stopped with some other friends on the way for a nice lunch. Our friends GPS was set for Arizona time so we thought we had more time than we actually did. We flew to the temple and made it in record time. We were a little late but they still let us in. The guys are a really close group of friends who grew up together and are/were in the same ward. It was awesome that all of them made it to the sealing except for one person. It was nice to see that David and Katie have a great group of friends. These are some of the pictures we took after the sealing. We also went to a dinner that night and Katies brother's and sister-in-laws. It was great being able to catch up with old friends and to meet new people.

The wedding was on Friday. We also decided to stay for the reception that was on Saturday night. We had time to kill Saturday. There was a lake and park across from the temple. There was a war memorial at that park. Paul and I took a walk around the park and visited the memorial. It was kinda cool. I have an interest in WW II. It was fun being able to see some of this stuff.

Some of our friends stayed for the reception too. They invited us to go to YellowStone with them Saturday afternoon. I was excited because i've never been. I had also wanted to see Old Faithful. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It was beautiful. We stopped along the way taking pics of some really cool spots. We also saw a bald eagle. When we got to the melting pots, it all of a sudden started to hail. Then after that it was cold for awhile. We were wishing we had our coats or warmer clothes. Most of the gysers went off. The steam was smelly but it sure kept us warm. I'm glad we made it to Old Faithful when we did. We only had to wait about 5 minutes. It was perfect timing otherwise we wouldve had to leave earlier.
We made it back ontime for the reception. It was cold but beautiful. Anyways that is our weekend at a glance. Hope everyone has a happy August. Take care.

Kelci's News

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to share some news that i'm excited about. I have decided to go back to school! I've been thinking about it for a while now and have been looking into programs. I've decided to do medical transcribing. The biggest reason is so when I have my family i'll be able to work from home. I found a school that offers most if not all of what I was looking for. This program will also allow me to keep my job, which is something i'm interested in until the kids come. I hope everything works out. Just wanted to share the news with everyone. Hope you all are taking care. Love you all!

Total Relaxation and more

Have you ever had one of those weekends where it seems like everything you have had planned gets cancelled or messed up one way or another? This weekend was my turn. I figure though either you can get all bummed and upset or go with the flow and make something of it. I decided to do something about it and I can tell you I had one great weekend. Paul had a guy weekend planned with his friends. It also included a bachelor party for one of his best friends. I hope you guys had a blast! I had some plans which kind of ruined, then I had a trip for next week that totally ruined. But thats ok. I was looking forward to going out of town but since its not happening I actually took some time and treated myself to a spa day. It was a blast. I tried a body wrap and some oceana tub thing. It was way nice. They rub some seaweed like stuff or mud depending on what you choose then you get into something close to a tanning bed thing but its a machine that heats and has tropical sprays stuff. Kinda weird but cool at the same time. Then the tub was a jetted tub with minerals and stuff. Can't remember its purpose except for relaxation. Anyways it was nice, but honestly, I prefer a massage. I was also able to spend the night with my mom on Friday night. My brothers are out of town, except for Hunter and with Paul being gone I didn't want to be alone Friday night. We went to the movies and out shopping and stuff. It was fun spending time with her. Even though plans were cancelled it was great being able to be home. We had the Texas Gardiners here for a few days and ended up doing a family dinner tonight. It was nice to see them. I kind of feel bad I didn't get to talk to them much. Sorry about that. I hope you guys had a decent trip. Happy August everyone! Can you believe summer is almost over? Where has the time gone? I also want to wish grandpa Badder a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you had a good one. Take care everyone!
